Full-month calendar with color-coded leave types. Solid = approved, dashed = pending. List view for the week-by-week reader.
Each request opens with the requested hours, the remaining vacation and PTO balances, and per-day totals — so approvers have what they need without a click.
Every employee, every balance, in one AG Grid. KPI cards at the top click-to-filter (negative balances, no vacation taken, active FMLA, utilization).
Wizard-built policy with allocation rules by pay profile, tenure, and position. Past versions preserved with effective dates. Apply runs preview before commit.
12-week FMLA tracking with status badges. Holidays auto-generated from Nager.Date with icon cascade. Year-end rollover with cap, floor, and override columns.
After applying a policy, send personalized HTML emails with each employee's new hours. Live preview, configurable categories, send-and-forget.
The manager view of Time Away is a real calendar — month grid, employee-rows-as-bars, color-coded by leave type, with a dashed outline to mark pending vs solid for approved. Toggle "Only see my team" off and a director gets every team rolling up to them in one screen.
The Leave Management page is HR's single hub. Org-wide balances in one AG Grid, KPI cards at the top that click-to-filter, and a pinned totals row so the picture aggregates as you scroll. No more "let me check each profile."
Tip: The icon language carries meaning at a glance — active FMLA ( inactive), ∞ exempt from PTO, 1 pending request count. Click an employee to open the detail panel; right-click for the single-row context menu.
Click an employee on the org-wide grid and the detail panel opens beneath the row. Six tabs cover everything HR needs to do per-person without ever leaving Leave Management. Settings are inline-editable. CRUD modals for everything else. The audit log records every change.
The wizard walks you through it. Every policy version has an effective date — past versions are preserved for audit. Inside each version, allocation rules match employees by pay profile, tenure, and position, then compute hours per person that you can review, override row-by-row, and apply in bulk.
Lump Sum (full annual grant on Jan 1) or Accrual (earn per pay period or monthly, with a waiting period and caps).
Precise (days ÷ 365.25 — tier changes mid-year) or Calendar Year (current year minus hire year — simpler, anniversary-agnostic).
Effective date, secondary leave label (Sick / Personal / PTO — your call), global hour caps, and holiday compensation for non-standard weekend staff.
Match employees by pay profile, years-of-service range, and position. Flat hours or years-multiplier with a cap. Preview, override per row, apply in bulk.
When the board approves new comp tiers in November and you flip them on January 1, you don't lose the rules that allocated 2026 balances. Past policy versions stay intact with their effective dates so audits, reconciliations, and "wait, why did Dani get 40 fewer vacation hours" questions all answer themselves.
Holiday comp is a built-in toggle for organizations with non-standard weekend staff (worship team, Sunday operations, campus services). When an org holiday falls on someone's assigned off-day, they get extra vacation hours to compensate for the holiday they can't observe.
Pick a source year, target year, cap, and floor. The calculator runs across every PTO-eligible employee, shows starting balance, used hours, unused hours, and the calculated rollover amount per row. Override per employee where you need to. Save a draft if you're not ready to apply. Apply when you are — only the rows you select.
Calculated = max(floor, min(unused, cap))
The leave system is built from three primitives you control. Most HR products treat these as static lists. Here they're first-class: edit, version, sync, and design.
Manual, sync from the global list, or auto-generate from the Nager.Date API. Each holiday gets an icon via a 3-tier cascade — your org's default, then the system default, then none. The "Apply Icons" button alias-matches and assigns automatically (handles "Fourth of July" vs "July 4th" vs "Independence Day Observed").
Define your own — Vacation, Sick, Sabbatical, Mission Trip, Bereavement, Jury Duty, whatever your culture needs. Each type carries a color tag that propagates through every calendar, list, and chart in the platform. Sync from the global definitions to bootstrap a new org in one click.
After applying a policy, send personalized HTML emails — name, year, hours table, configurable categories, all token-replaced. Live preview pane updates as you edit. Bulk send with checkbox selection. Reports failures by email address so you can chase them.
